How to join Farmasi from South Africa
Farmasi has no local operation in South Africa. You enroll on the United States site and orders ship from the US warehouse.
This works differently from a market with its own Farmasi office. Because Farmasi does not operate locally in South Africa, you enroll on the United States site, picking your country from the dropdown, and orders ship from the US warehouse. Signing up is the easy part. What actually decides whether the business works for you is what happens when the parcel reaches customs in South Africa โ so that is what this page covers, with the real numbers.
The sign-up, step by step
- 1
Get a sponsor link
The system needs to know whose team you are joining. Enroll through the link on this page and you join mine, and I walk you through it from day one.
- 2
Go to the United States site
Do not go looking for a Farmasi South Africa website โ there isn't one. Enrollment happens on farmasius.com with my sponsor code already applied.
- 3
Pick "South Africa (From US)" in the dropdown
This is the step people skip, and it is the one that matters. In the "Register for" selector at the top of the form, find your option and select it. Leave it on the United States and the form will ask you for details you do not have.
- 4
Fill in your details and address
Name, email, phone and the address in South Africa where you want your order delivered. Check what the form asks for before you pay โ this is where most people get stuck.
- 5
Pay and wait for your order
It is a $19.99 one-time enrollment fee, with the option to add a product kit. Once confirmed you get your back-office credentials and your own online store, and the order ships from the United States.

Customs and taxes when your order lands in South Africa
South Africa has no de minimis at all: duty and VAT are chargeable on every import, whatever the value. SARS scrapped the old under-R500 flat-rate concession, adding VAT to it in September 2024 and reclassifying consignments into four WCO categories that November. VAT is 15%, but the base is uplifted: customs value plus duty plus 10% of the customs value. And there is a third layer most people miss โ cosmetics carry an ad valorem excise duty on top of everything else, 7% on beauty and make-up preparations and 9% on perfumes and toilet waters. The gift rebate (two unsolicited gifts a year, up to R1,400 each) will not help you either: perfume is expressly excluded from it.
Paying in US dollars from South Africa
Paying is the easy part. The Single Discretionary Allowance rose to R2 million per calendar year in June 2026, and card payments for internet imports of up to R50,000 per transaction do not count against it at all. You need a valid South African ID and to be 18 or over.
Product rules and registration
No product registration was found for ordinary cosmetics; SAHPRA approval applies to medicines in the post, which is a different matter.
If you start selling regularly
If you sell regularly, register with SARS. The ad valorem excise on cosmetics is worth factoring into your pricing from the start.
Frequently asked questions from South Africa
Why do I enroll on the United States site?
Because Farmasi has no local operation in South Africa. The company lists these countries in the dropdown of the US form so you can enroll and receive product from its warehouse.
Will the product actually reach South Africa?
Yes, it ships from the United States warehouse to your address. What differs from a local market is the transit time and, above all, the import taxes explained above.
What currency do I pay in?
US dollars. Your bank applies the conversion and, depending on the country, an extra charge or levy.
Do I need a US address?
That depends on what the form asks once you select your country. Check before you pay โ plenty of people enroll without changing the dropdown and then find themselves asked for US details.
What if Farmasi opens an office in South Africa?
Farmasi has been opening new markets steadily. If it opens in South Africa, ask entrepreneur support how that affects your account rather than assuming the migration is automatic.
Can I legally resell what I import?
Importing for personal use and reselling are different things in law. Read the product rules and the section on going official โ that is where the specifics for South Africa are.
